A responsible material. If we talk to you about Vinoleather, you may have never heard the word before. Yet it has been our day for months. A material made from the waste from the wine we produce. With 20% less water consumption than other vegan materials and 17% less PVC than most solutions on the market.
Grape leather, also known as vegetable leather, is an innovative and eco-friendly material used in the fashion industry. It is made from grape waste from the wine industry, such as skins, seeds and stems. Instead of throwing this waste away, it is recycled and transformed into a material similar to traditional leather.
The process of making grape leather typically involves drying grape waste, turning it into a powder, and then combining that powder with natural binders and adjuncts to create a paste. This paste is then rolled out and pressed to form sheets of grape leather, which can be used in making handbags, shoes, belts and other fashion items.
Grape leather has several advantages over traditional animal-based leather. First of all, it is considered more sustainable and environmentally friendly because it uses agricultural waste rather than animal resources. Additionally, it is typically produced without the use of toxic chemicals often associated with traditional leather processing.
